Purple

Purple. What is it? Why am I even being asked this question? Oh yeah, my teacher was trying to make a point about something I wasn’t paying attention too. Well purple is the opposite of yellow, which is a spring color, so does that mean purple is a winter color? A swirl of red and blue, enemies mixed together for ever. I know purple is supposed to mean royalty, but why? Is it because it’s an unusual color, or because it has the connotation of mysterious, dark, and power? I looked harder at the construction paper on my desk. It reminded me of wine, grapes, and Fantasia (the singer). It reminded me of a whirl pool, going farther and farther down into the depths of the world.. Purple reminds me of blueberry pie and peanut butter and jelly. Both my best friends’ favorite color was purple, and my brother’s too when he decided he liked what ever I did. It was the school color of the school I wanted to go to. It was the color of my dad’s favorite tie and the wine in Elijah’s cup. Purple was not just the opposite of Yellow, and the mixture of red and blue, but different meanings and memories it reminded me of. If the kid sitting next to me got the same color, our answers would be different, because no two people had all the same thoughts and memories. The answer is, Purple doesn’t have a definition, it differs from person to person.
